THE BENEFITS OF HAVING A BIRTH DOULA INCLUDE:

reduced need for pain-relief medications
reduced need for a cesarean birth
reduced length of labor by 25%
reduced use of synthetic oxytocin by 40%
reduced requests for an epidural by 60%

BIRTH DOULA
Provides physical and emotional support to mother and her partner before, during and after birth. She provides companionship, using comfort measures, and helps the mom gather needed in order to make informed decisions.

POSTPARTUM DOULA

Provides help to the new mom and partner during transition into parenthood. Her duties are similar to the antepartum doula. She also helps with infant feeding and care, household organization, meal preparation, care of older sibling(s), run errands, and provide companionship.
